크게 성공한 사업가가 새 사위와 의논하였다. "난 내 딸을 사랑해, 그래서 이제 자네를 우리 가족의 일원으로 반겨 맞아들이는 바일쎄," 사업가가 말했다. "우리가 자네를 얼마나 아끼는지 보여주기 위하여, 내 사업의 절반을 자네 지분으로 나누어줄 생각이야. 자넨 그저 매일 공장에 출근하여 작업 상황을 살펴보기만하면 돼."

사위가 말을 가로챘다, "저는 공장이 싫어요. 시끄러운 걸 못 견디거든요."

"알겠네," 장인이 대답했다. "저어, 그렇다면, 사무실 근무를 하면서 몇 가지 작업을 지휘하도록 하게."

"저는 사무실 근무도 싫어하는데요," 사위가 말했다. "온종일 책상에 앉아 있는 건 견딜 수 없거든요."

"잠깐," 장인이 말했다. "내 사업의 절반을 자네 몫으로 나누어 주겠다는데도, 자네는 공장을 좋아하지도 않고 사무실도 싫어한다니, 그럼 내가 어떻게 해 주었으면 좋겠나?"

"그야 쉽지요," 젊은이가 말했다. "제 몫을 사가셔요."

A very successful businessman had a meeting with his new son-in-law. "I love my daughter, and now I welcome you into the family," said the man. "To show you how much we care for you, I'm making you a 50-50 partner in my business. All you have to do is go to the factory every day and learn the operations."

The son-in-law interrupted, "I hate factories. I can't stand the noise."

"I see," replied the father-in-law. "Well, then you'll work in the office and take charge of some of the operations."

"I hate office work," said the son-on-law. "I can't stand being stuck behind a desk all day."

"Wait a minute," said the father-in-law. "I just made you half-owner of a moneymaking organization, but you don't like factories and won't work in a office. What am I going to do with you?"

"Easy," said the young man. "Buy me out."
