미국의 어느 감옥, 세 여자 사형수의 형 집행이 시작되고 있었다. 하나는 흑발(검은 머리), 하나는 홍발(붉은 머리), 또 하나는 금발이었다. 간수가 흑발의 여인을 먼저 앞으로 데리고 나오자 형 집행관은 마지막 요구사항이 있느냐고 물었다. 그녀가 없다고 하자 집행관이 외쳤다. "거총!... 조준!!..."
그 때 벼란간에 흑발 여인이 소리를꽥질렀다, "지진이야!!! (EARTHQUAKE!!!)"
모두 놀라 두리번거리는 동안 흑발은 도망쳤다.

잠시 후 간수가 홍발의 여인을 앞으로 데리고 나오자 형 집행관은 마지막 요구사항이 있느냐고 물었다. 그녀가 없다고 하자 집행관이 외쳤다. "거총!... 조준!!..."
그 때 갑자기 홍발 여인이 소리를냅다 질렀다, "폭풍이야!!! (TORNADO!!!)"
모두 놀라 두리번거리는 사이 홍발도 도망쳤다.

이쯤 되자 금발은 사태가 어떻게 돌아가고 있는지 감을 잡을 수 있었다. 간수가 금발의 여인을 앞으로 데리고 나오자 형 집행관은 마지막 요구사항이 있느냐고 물었다. 그녀가 없다고 하자 집행관이 외쳤다. "거총!... 조준!!..."
그 때느닷없이 금발 여인이 소리를 버럭 질렀다, "불이야!!!(FIRE!!!)"

Three women are about to be executed. One's a brunette, one's a redhead, and one's a blonde. The guard brings the brunette forward and the executioner asks if she has any last requests. She says no and the executioner shouts, "Ready!...Aim!! ..."
Suddenly the brunette yells, "EARTHQUAKE!!!" Everyone is startled and looks around. She escapes.

And the blonde yells, "FIRE!!!"
