톰이 공항 수화물 수취대에서 자기 짐을 챙겨가지고 택시를 잡으러 나갔다. 택시 한 대가 잽싸게 그를 태우고 출발하였다.

20 분쯤 가다가 톰은 택시기사에게 뭘 좀 물어보고 싶은 게 생각났다. "실례지만 기사님," 톰이 기사의 어깨를 토닥이며 말했다.

"으아-악!" 기사가 비명을 지르더니, 택시는 차선을 3 개나 벗어났고, 결국은 반대 편 갓길에 멈춰섰다. 

"아니, 대체 무슨 짓이오?" 톰이 완전히 오싹해져서 다그쳤다. 

"죄송합니다," 기사가 이마의 식은땀을 닦아내며 말했다, "제가 오늘 처음으로 택시 일을 시작했거든요. 전에는 50 년 동안 영구차를 몰았습지요!"

Hearse ?

Tom grabbed his suitcase off the luggage carousel and headed outside to hail a taxi. A taxi promptly picked him up and they were on there way. 

Twenty minutes into the ride Tom had a question for the taxi driver. “Excuse me sir,” said Tom tapping the driver on the shoulder. 

“AHHHH HHH” screamed the taxi driver swerving the taxi across three lanes of traffic finally stopping the car on the opposite shoulder. 

“What the heck was that all about?” demanded Tom thoroughly shaken. “I’m sorry,” said the taxi driver, wiping his brow, “this is my first day on the job, I’ve been driving a hearse for the last fifty years!”
