취업 면접이 끝나갈 무렵, 인력자원 담당 면접관이 매서추세츠공대[MIT]를 갓 나온 젊은 엔지니어에게 물었다, "그럼 초봉은 얼마쯤으로 해 드릴까요?" 

엔지니어가 대답하였다, "연봉 12만5천 달러 정도에 사회보장 급부금도 지원 받는 걸로요." 

면접관이 질문하였다, "글쎄요, 법정휴가 5 주에 따로 14 일의 유급휴가를 드리고, 치과를 포함한 의료보험을 완전 카버해 드리고, 퇴직후 연금이 연봉의 50%가 되도록 별도 적립해 드리고, 매 2 년마다, 가령, 빨간색 코르벳 자동차를 회사가 리스해 드리면 어떠실른지요?" 

엔지니어가 벌떡 일어서며 말했다, "와우! 농담하시는 건가요?" 

면접관이 대답하였다, "그래요, 하지만 농담은 댁이 먼저 시작한 걸요."

Interview 

Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Officer asks a young engineer fresh out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, "And what starting salary are you looking for?" 

The engineer replies, "In the region of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package." 

The interviewer inquires, "Well, what would you say to a package of five weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every two years, say, a red Corvette?" 

The engineer sits up straight and says, "Wow! Are you kidding?" 

The interviewer replies, "Yeah, but you started it."
