"좋은 소식과 나쁜 소식이 있어요," 화랑 주인이 대답하였다. "좋은 소식으로는 어떤 신사분이 당신의 작품에 관해 문의를 해왔고 그게 당신이 죽은 후에 진가를 인정받을 만한 것인지 궁금해 하였어요."

"그래서 뭐라고 대답해 주셨습니까?" 화가가 물었다.

"그럴 거라고말씀 드렸더니, 그 분이당신의그림 15 점을 모두 구입했어요."

"그거 놀랍군요!" 화가가 흥분된 어조로 외쳤다.

"나쁜 소식은 무엇입니까?"

"그 신사분은 당신의 주치의였어요."

Art That Sells

An artist asked the gallery owner if there had been any recent interest in his paintings, which happened to be on display.

"I have good news and bad news," the gallery owner replied. "The good news is that a gentleman inquired about your work and wondered if it would appreciate in value after your death."

"What did you say?" questioned the artist.

"When I told him it would, he bought all 15 of your paintings."

"That's wonderful!" the artist exclaimed.

"What's the bad news?"

"The gentleman was your doctor."
