여자는 주저하지 않았다. 그녀가 말했다, "나는 중동지역의 평화를 원해요. 이 지도를 봐요. 난 이들 국가들이 서로 싸우는 것을 그만두었으면 좋겠어요."

요정이 그 지도를 보더니 소리쳤다, "아아니, 부인!그 나라들은 수천년 동안 전쟁을 해오고 있다고요,내가훌륭한 요정이긴 하지만, 그렇게까지 훌륭하진 못 해요! 그건 들어드리기 어려운 소원이예요. 다른 소원을 말씀해 보세요."

여자가 잠시 생각하고 말했다, "저어, 난 올바른 남자를 찾는 게 도무지 안 되더라구요. 당신도 아시겠지만, 사려깊고도 유머가 풍부하고, 집안청소와 요리하기를 좋아하는 사람은 침대에서도 잘하고, 처가 식구들과 잘 어울려 지내고, 스포츠경기에만 노상 매달리지도 않고, 성실하거든요. 그게 바로 내가 원하는... 좋은 신랑감이예요."

요정이 길게 한숨을 쉬고는 말했다, "그 지도 좀 다시 보여주세요!"

One Wish

A woman was walking along the beach when she stumbled upon an unusual old lamp. She picked it up and cleaned it off, and suddenly a Genie appeared. The amazed woman asked if she was going to receive the usual three wishes.

The Genie said, "Nope...due to inflation, constant downsizing, low wages in third-world countries, and fierce global competition, I can only grant you one wish. So...what'll it be?"

The woman didn't hesitate. She said, "I want peace in the Middle East. See this map. I want these countries to stop fighting with each other."

The Genie looked at the map and exclaimed, "Gadzooks, lady! These countries have been at war for thousands of years. I'm good, but not THAT good! I don't think it can be done. Make another wish."

The woman thought for a minute and said, "Well, I've never been able to find the right man. You know, one that's considerate and fun, likes to cook and helps with the housecleaning, is good in bed and gets along with my family, doesn't watch sports all the time, and is faithful. That's what I wish for...a good mate."

The Genie let out a long sigh and said, "Let me see that map!"
