문이 안 닫혀

외판원 두 사람이 가가호호 다니다가, 자기들 만나는 걸 싫어하는 여자네 집 문을 노크하였다. 그녀는 그들의 제안을 듣기 싫다고 딱부러지게 말하고 면전에서 문을 쾅 닫았다. 그런데 놀랍게도 그 문이 닫히질 않고 도리어 튕겨지듯 다시 열리는 것이었다. 

그녀가 등을 돌려 대고 다시 닫기를 시도하였으나 결과는 마찬가지였다 - 문이 또 튕기며 열린 것이다. 

필시 이 무례한 외판원들이 발을 문에 끼워넣고 있기 때문이라고 확신한 여자는 어디 맛 좀 보라는 듯 뒷발로 문을 쾅 닫는데, 한 사내가 말했다: "부인, 또 다시 그러시려면, 먼저 댁의 고양이부터 치우셔야겠는데요."

Door does not Close

Two salesmen were going door to door, and knocked on the door of a woman who was not happy to see them. She told them in no uncertain terms that she did not want to hear their offer and slammed the door in their faces. To her surprise, however, the door did not close and, in fact, bounced back open. 

She tried again, really put her back into it, and slammed the door again with the same result - the door bounced back open. 

Convinced these rude salesmen were sticking their foot in the door, she reared back to give it a slam that would teach them a lesson, when one of the men said: "Ma'am, before you do that again, you need to move your cat."
