두 청년이 현금이 절실히 필요한데, 솔직히 좀 겁이 났다. 그래서 하나가 아만파 교도의 상점을 털자고 제안하였다. 이유인즉, 아만파 교도들은 무저항주의니까, 설령 자기들이 잡히더라도 해를 입히지는 않으리라는 것. 

그리하여 그들은 그 계획을 실천에 옮겼다. 그러나 그들이 금전등록기에 침입하려는 순간, 주인이 조명등을 켜고 그들과 마주 서서 엽총을 겨누었다. 

침착하게, 주인이 말했다, "여보게들, 난 해칠 생각이 전혀 없는데, 내가 쏘려는 목표 위치에 자네들이 서 있는 것뿐이라네."

Robbery

Two fellers were in desperate need of cash, but admittedly were a bit cowardly. So the one suggested they break into the Amish market. The logic being that since the Amish were non-resistant, even if they were caught, no harm could befall them. 

Thus they carried out their plot. However, just as they were breaking into the cash register, the owner turned on the lights and confronted them, a shotgun pointed directly at them. 

Calmly, the Amish man said, "Boys, I would never do thee any harm yet you are standing where I am about to shoot."
