추억

어느 일요일 아침 어떤 목사가 뭔가 좀 색다른 걸 해보기로 결심하였다.

그가 말했다, "신자 여러분, 오늘은 제가 단어 하나를 말하면 여러분이 제 설교를 도와주시는 겁니다. 제가 무슨 단어를 말하건 간에 여러분은 뭐든 마음에 와닿는 찬송가를 부르시기 바랍니다."

목사가 소리쳤다, "십자가."

그 즉시 신자들은 일제히 "그 낡고험난한 십자가"를 부르기 시작하였다.

목사가 소리쳤다, "은총."

신자들이 "어메이징 그레이스, 그 소리 감미로워라" 찬송을 부르기 시작하였다.

목사가 말했다, "권능."

신자들은 "보혈에 권능 있도다"를 불렀다.

목사가 말했다, "섹스."

신자들은 완전히 침묵에 빠져들었다. 모두 충격을 받았다. 무슨 말이건 꺼내기가 두려워, 불안스레 서로 두리번거렸다.

돌연, 뒤쪽에서, 한 가냘프고 키 작은 87세 할머니 한 분이 일어서더니, 자그맣고 떨리는 목소리로 "소중한 추억"을 노래하기 시작하였다.

Memories

A Minister decided to do something a little different one Sunday morning.

He said, "Today, church, I am going to say a single word and you are going to help me preach. Whatever single word I say, I want you to sing whatever hymn comes to your mind."

The pastor shouted out, "Cross."

Immediately the congregation started singing in unison, "The Old Rugged Cross."

The Pastor hollered out, "Grace."

The congregation began to sing, "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound."

The Pastor said, "Power."

The congregation sang, "There is Power in the Blood."

The Pastor said, "Sex."

The congregation fell into total silence. Everyone was in shock. They all nervously began to look around at each other, afraid to say anything.

Suddenly, from the back of the church, a frail little 87 year-old grandmother stood up and, in a tiny quavering voice, began to sing, "Precious Memories."
