어린이들을 집합시켜 사진 촬영을 한 후, 선생님이 아이들에게 그 단체사진을 한 장씩 사도록 설득하고 있었다.

"너희들이 모두 자랐을 때 이 사진을 들여다보며, '저기 제니퍼가 있네, 지금은 변호사야' 또는 '저건 마이클이네, 지금은 의사가 됐지' 라고 이야기하는 게 얼마나 근사한 일이겠는지 생각해 봐."

교실 뒤 쪽에서 조그만 목소리가 들려 왔다, "그리고거기 선생님이 계시네, 지금은 돌아가셨지."

The Photograph

The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.
"Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say:

"There's Jennifer; she's a lawyer, or That's Michael. He's a doctor." A small voice at the back of the room rang out, "And there's the teacher. She's dead".
