커다란 숲 속의 어느 화창한 날 아침, 곰 가족이 잠 깨어 일어났다. 

아기곰이 아래층에 내려와 조그만 자기 식탁의자에 앉아서 조그만 자기 사발 속을 들여다보니 텅 비어 있었다! "누가 내 죽을 먹어버렸지?" 그가 징징 울었다. 

아빠곰이 식탁에 도착하여 커다란 자기 의자에 앉더니, 자기의 커다란 사발 속을 들여다보았는데, 그것 역시 비어 있었다! "누가 내 죽을 먹어버린거야?" 그가 으르렁거렸다. 

엄마곰이 주방 문에서 머리를 들이밀고 소리쳤다, "제발, 허구많은 날 꼭 이래야 하겠어요? 맨먼저 일어나는 것도 엄마곰이고, 만날 식구들 깨우는 것도 엄마곰, 간밤에 넣어둔 접시들을 세척기에서 꺼내고 치우는 것도 엄마곰, 차가운 아침 공기 맞으며 신문을 가져오는 것도 엄마곰, 식탁을 챙기는 것도 엄마곰, 고양이를 작은 박스에서 꺼내고 그걸 청소하고 고양이 물과 밥그릇을 채워주는 것도 엄마곰이었어요. 그런데 이제서야 겨우 내려들 와서는 우리가 나타났습네 신고랍시고 그딴 소리들이나 튕기고 앉았으니, 잘들 들어요, 다시 한 번 이 말씀을 들려줄 터이니: 그 망할놈의 죽을 난 아직 끓이지도 않았단 말예욧!"

Bear family

It’s a sunny morning in the Big Forest and the Bear family is just waking up. Baby Bear goes downstairs and sits in his small chair at the table. He looks into his small bowl. It is empty! "Who's been eating my porridge?" he squeaks. 

Father Bear arrives at the table and sits in his big chair. He looks into his big bowl. It is also empty! "Who's been eating my porridge?" he roars. 

Mother Bear sticks her head out the kitchen door and yells, "For Pete's sake, how many times do we have to go through this? It was Mother Bear who get up first. It was Mother Bear who woke everybody else in the house up. It was Mother Bear who unloaded the dishwasher from last night and put everything away. It was Mother Bear who went out into the cold early morning air to fetch the newspaper. It was Mother Bear who set the table. It was Mother Bear who put the cat out, cleaned the litter box and filled the cat's water and food dish. And now that you've decided to come down stairs and grace me with your presence, listen good because I'm only going to say this one more time: I haven't made the f*cking porridge yet!"
