텍사스 A&M대학교 어떤 과의 금발 여학생 그룹이 깃대의 높이를 측정해 오라는 과제를 부여 받았다.
그래서 그들은 사다리와 줄자를 가지고 나갔는데, 사다리를 오르다 자꾸만 넘어지고 줄자를 떨어뜨리고 하는 바람에, 실속도 없이 온통 난리법석만 피우고 있었다.

한 공대생이 지나가다가 그들이 애먹고 있는 것을 보고 다가와서는, 땅에서 깃대를 뽑아서 눕혀놓고 이 끝에서 저 끝까지재어서, 그 결과치를 금발 여학생 하나에게 넘겨 주고 갔다.

공대생이 가 버리자, 한 금발이 다른 금발을 돌아다보며 웃었다, "아까 걔 멍텅구리 공대생 같지 않니? 우린 높이를 재려는 건데,걔는 길이를 재 주었잖아!"

The Flagpole

A group of blondes in a class at Texas A&M University were given the assignment to measure the height of a flagpole.
So they went out to the flagpole with ladders and tape measures, and they're falling off the ladders, dropping the tape measures - the whole thing was just a mess.

An engineering student comes along, sees what they're trying to do, walks over, pulls the flagpole out of the ground, lays it flat, measures it from end to end, and then gave the measurement to one of the blondes and walked away.

After the engineer had gone, one blonde turned to another and laughed, "Isn't that just like a dumb engineer? We're looking for the height and he gives us the length!"
