한 사나이가 어떤 집 밖에 나붙은 표지판을 보니 "말하는 개를 팝니다" 라고 쓰여있었다. 그는 호기심이 생겨 들어가 보았다. 

"근데 넌 뭘 하며 살아왔니?" 그가 개에게 물었다. 

"저는 아주 충실한 삶을 살아왔답니다," 그 개가 말했다, "알프스에서는 눈사태 희생자들을 구조하면서 지냈지요. 그 후엔 이라크에서 미군에 복무하였습니다. 그리고 지금은 한 은퇴노인 시설 주민들에게 책을 읽어주고 있지요." 

사나이는 소스라쳐 놀랐다. 그가 개 주인에게 말했다, "아니 세상에, 어째서 저토록 엄청난 개를 없애려 하시는 겁니까? 

개 주인이 말했다, "그 녀석이 거짓말쟁이라서요! 녀석은 그런 일들 중 하나도 해본 적이 없다고요!"

Talking Dog

A guy spots a sign outside a house that reads “Talking Dog for Sale.” Intrigued, he walks in. 

“So what have you done with your life?” he asks the dog. 

“I've led a very full life,” says the dog. “I lived in the Alps rescuing avalanche victims. Then I served my country in Iraq. And now I spend my days reading to the residents of a retirement home.” 

The guy is flabbergasted. He asks the dog’s owner, “Why on earth would you want to get rid of an incredible dog like that?” 

The owner says, “Because he’s a liar! He never did any of that!”
